This from our friends at the Collective Visions Art Gallery, where the 2010 CVG Show statewide juried exhibition is on display through Feb. 27:

Carla Grahn’s metal-and-moss construction titled “Girl Army” won the Mayor’s Award for Best of Show in the third CVG Show statewide juried art competition, according to a list announced during an awards ceremony Feb. 6.
The Seattle artist’s piece was selected by juror Jake Seniuk, director and curator of the Port Angeles Fine Art Gallery. Grahn received $1,500 from the competition’s $7,800 total purse.
Port Ludlow’s Michael Berman took the top prize, worth $1,000, in photography, with his entry titled “Open Ocean 2.” “Little Boston Welcome,” a painting by Priscilla Preus of Kingston, was selected by the Kitsap County Arts Board to receive an $1,800 “Purchase Award” for the Kitsap County Public Art Collection.
Other Kitsap award recipients include Roy Peratrovich (Bainbridge Island, second place, 3-D art) and Susan Sweetwater (Bremerton, third place, 3-D art.
The CVG Show consists of 128 selections in 2- and 3-dimensional art and photography by artists from around the state. Seniuk selected the show from more than 800 entries. It runs through Feb. 27 at the Collective Visions Art Gallery, 331 Pacific Ave. in Bremerton.
